Social Media Trends for Choirs in 2025
Try these latest trends to grow your audience this year
Last week, we explored Repertoire Trends and Inspiration 2025 for Choirs—because choosing the right music is at the heart of every great performance. But once your concert program is set, how do you make sure people hear about it?
That’s where social media comes in. It’s a powerful tool for choirs to promote concerts, connect with audiences, and even attract new singers. But with platforms constantly evolving, strategies that once worked may no longer be effective.
This week, we’re diving into Social Media Trends for Choirs 2025. Whether your choir is struggling to gain visibility online or simply wants to keep up with the latest best practices, these insights will help you stay ahead—so your music reaches more people than ever.
1. Short Videos Are (Still) King
The brief TikTok ban fiasco is over. But even if the app is banned in the US, short videos dominate every big social media platform, and they aren’t going away.
Luckily, this works well for choirs. Your singers have a great skill to capture in short-form videos. And as long as you can find interesting concepts and attention-grabbing imagery, you’ll be able to promote your choir this way.
The one downside? Everyone knows that this is the number one way to promote yourself on social media—so the competition is fierce.
2. But Not-So-Short Video Is On the Rise
YouTube Shorts recently increased the cap on video length to a (relatively) epic three minutes, opening the way for creators to use up a little more time. This gives you time to establish more of a narrative, and it pulls away from the cramped under-60-second format that’s reigned for the last few years.
It’s an interesting turn, one that choirs can definitely make use of. There’s so much more you can communicate and express in that time frame, and as audiences begin to get used to it, they’ll appreciate you having content that fits this middle space.
While a full-length song is probably not going to get a lot of traction, 3 minutes is plenty of time for concepts like rehearsals versus concert or give a miniature vocal lesson.
3. Social Media Marketing Is Search Engine Marketing
Younger users turn to social media search bars to find answers to questions. That means you have a wide-open strategy to get attention: creating content based on popular search terms.
For choirs, there are some immediate strategies that come to mind: musical history, singing lessons, and surprising choral covers.
Thinking of social media marketing through the lens of SEO (search engine optimization) gives you a big step up in generating ideas for content and providing people with the exact thing they are looking for.
4. Hashtags Are Over
In an effort to counter spammers, Instagram no longer allows people to follow hashtags. This is a blow to a social media feature that has been on the decline for years, and it’s a sign that hashtags are not the tool they used to be.
This is especially true now that most platforms have integrated AI that summarizes and sorts the content anyway. Whereas hashtags once played a massive role in keeping the ocean of social media content self-categorized, we don’t really need them to do that anymore.
In many ways, this is great news. You can make much more organic content and still be shown to people who would find it relevant.
5. GenAI Is Here
Using generative AI to help you create content could be a major lift for your choir. Even using platforms that employ AI tools to dramatically reduce your workload can make social media marketing much more manageable.
That being said, there’s an arms race component to all this. With other people using the same labor-saving platforms, there will be a massive uptick in content. So, to stand out, people will need to create a lot more content. So, it remains to be seen if things get easier for everyone.
Either way, it’s worth familiarizing yourself with tools that automatically produce shorts out of long-form video and AI tools that can create social media posts.
Connection Remains the Most Important Thing
While the trends above give you guidelines for making the most out of your social media presence in 2025, don’t forget what makes these platforms special: actual connection to your audience.
Engagement and meaningful sharing will always win out in the long run.
