INTERKULTUR World Rankings: Reaching new heights
New update after choir events in Aarhus and Wernigerode
The latest update to the INTERKULTUR World Rankings brings fresh momentum to the global choral scene. Following the European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations in Aarhus 2025 and the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition Wernigerode, several choirs have made impressive leaps. Here's a look at the highlights:
Youth Choir Aarhus U from Denmark, conducted by Jonas Rasmussen, has risen to second place in the Top 1000 choirs and also leads the global list in the Musica Sacra category in the Top 50 Choirs. Rasmussen’s Akademisk Kor Århus remains in the top ten of the overall best choirs, further emphasizing Denmark’s strong performance at the home event.
Norway’s Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening makes a new entry at sixth place, while Denmark’s SORA enters the rankings at number ten in the Top 1000 at its debut at an INTERKULTUR choir competition. Both choirs now hold the top two positions in the individual Female Choirs category.
The INTERKULTUR World Rankings are updated multiple times a year and reflect the current activity and performance results of choirs that have participated in at least one INTERKULTUR competition in the past five years.
