The updated World Rankings for choirs is now available!
INTERKULTUR World Rankings do now include the results from the World Choir Games 2016
The INTERKULTUR World Rankings for choirs have been updated considering the results of the World Choir Games 2016 in Sochi. Since it was again the best choir in this year’s WCG competitions and was awarded three Champions titles, Stellenbosch University Choir from South Africa is obviously still unbeaten. The 100-voices-choir from South Africa still keeps holding the first place in the INTERKULTUR World Rankings of the best amateur choirs in the world.
But there’s a new No.2 to be announced!
The Müller Chamber Choir from Chinese Taipei showcased again its incredible abilities at the World Choir Games 2016 in Sochi and after becoming Grand Prize Winner at the 9th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition 2015 in Wernigerode (Germany) the choir also was awarded the title “Champion of the World Choir Games” in Sochi this year. Now the singers are ranked #2 in the overall list of the 1000 top choirs in the world (ascending from #61). Furthermore, the choir is the new number one among the Chamber Choirs & Vocal Ensembles. Congratulations to this success!
Further the achievement of Gaudeamus Korala from Spain is definitely worth to mention. They became Champion of the World Choir Games in the “Youth Choirs of equal voices” category and thus are now the highest new entry in the Top 1000 being ranked #32 in this list. Among the Female Choirs they even hold the third place now.
The INTERKULTUR World Rankings are based on all competition results since the year 2000. The evaluation of all INTERKULTUR competitions has been carried out according to the MUSICA MUNDI evaluation system, which makes possible an impressive overall comparison of all choirs that have participated – resulting in the various INTERKULTUR World Ranking lists.
