International Choir Competition and Festival

New name, established host: In 2023 the city of Bruckner, Linz in Austria welcomes choirs from all over the world to the International Choir Competition and Festival "SOUND WAVES Linz" at the Danube river.

In addition to special competition categories for Children's, Youth and Young Adult choirs, a new Folklore category has been added to the program, which will give an exciting insight into the special choir traditions of the world.

Venues like the Brucknerhaus, the first address in the cultural and concert life of the city of Linz, the Linz Cathedral and the St. Florian Monastery provide a top-class setting for the event.

The festival of choral music offers participating choirs the opportunity to take part in competitions as well as in Friendship and Gala Concerts and to sing in a large international festival choir together with fellow singers from all over the world.

With a new name and an exciting program, we welcome you to our new choir competition and festival "Sound Waves Linz" this year. In addition to the well-known competition for the Anton Bruckner Choir Prize, many other great artistic and educational elements await the participating choirs as part of the festival.
Be a part of "Sound Waves Linz" and enjoy singing from all over the world in front of a dreamlike scenery at the river Danube. We look forward to seeing you!

Friendship Concerts

Participating choirs may register to perform together with other international choirs. Choirs must prepare approximately 15 minutes of their own music pre-approved by the artistic committee. The concert should be preferably a cappella or with own instruments. Piano or digital piano can be provided upon request.

Please be aware that several friendship concerts are planned open air. In the event that weather conditions do not allow this, some concerts may be cancelled due to the weather. The organizers will try to manage alternatives but choirs do not have any legal claim to this.

Choirs can also take part in friendship concerts only.

Concerts in St. Florian
The Augustinian St. Florian monastery is situated about 15 km from Linz. Anton Bruckner used to be the church organist in the basilica and was later buried there as well. As part of the Anton Bruckner Choir Competition & Festival, selected participating choirs will have the opportunity to perform in the beautiful Baroque basilica and in the marble hall, one of the most outstanding Baroque halls in Austria. Please note that transportation and costs have to be calculated separately (public transportation or own bus). The organizer will be glad to assist you with the handling.
