The first competition, workshop and Friendship Concert will turn Monterey into a choral city in November

Golden State Choral Trophy

The first competition day of the Golden State Choral Trophy Event has dawned, which means that it’s getting serious for the first choirs that are going to present themselves in front of the international jury. The competition in the "Folklore" category will start this afternoon at 2 pm at the Pacific Grove Performing Arts Center.

Afterwards, Morten Lauridsen invites to a workshop  to discuss the relationship between text and music using the example of his own choral compositions. The workshop will take place at the Pacific Grove Performing Arts Center between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. The participation fee of 30 $ will be charged on-site.

In the evening at 7:30 pm the first Friendship Concert featuring choirs from the USA, Poland and a children's choir from the Philippines will take place at the St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Monterey. Admission is free and all interested people from Monterey and the surrounding area are welcome to listen to the choral voices.

The program includes the following choirs:

  • Pacific Grove High School Choir (USA)
  • Vox Singers - Chór POKIS (Poland)
  • Positive Vibrations - POKiS (Poland)
  • Kids' Kollege Inc. Chorale (Philippines)
