Canta al mar press conference is the beginning of a wonderful dream
At today's press conference in the town hall of Calella, Deputy Mayor Núria Parella, Prof. Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiß, Artistic Director of the festival and Marc Moreno, representative of Viajes Tauro S. L. reported on the highlights of this year's edition of Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional.
An innovation in the five-year success story of the festival is the Audience Prize, Marc Moreno proudly announced. For the first time the choirs as well as all spectators of the festival could vote for their favorite ensemble this year. The voting of the audience’s favorite is given by ballots distributed at the festival office and at the concerts in Calella and Barcelona until Friday evening.
The Canta al mar Festival is not just one of the most popular INTERKULTUR festivals. Instead, the event would have developed into a kind of model and would serve as a role model for interested choirs, international delegations and INTERKULTUR itself, Prof. Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiß said. "INTERKULTUR has organized more than 160 events, but what happens here in Calella is unique and familiar. We, the whole organization team as well as this year’s 49 participating choirs with around 1700 singers are fantastically received and hosted here."
Deputy Mayor Parella praised above all the long-term, good cooperation between INTERKULTUR, Viajes Tauro S.L. and the city of Calella. The festival would not only be a successful factor for Calella, but also the inhabitants would give a high interest in the Canta al mar program and the international choirs. She highlighted the festival days as a kind of dream in which little angels would sing at every corner and enchant the city. It’s a wonderful compliment for the choirs and also for INTERKULTUR.
The dream with 1700 singing angels from 24 nations will be officially opened tomorrow, October 19, 2016.
