1988 was the year when it all started: the first International Choir Competition & Festival Budapest united choral music lovers from all over the world for the first time. Meanwhile this event has developed into one of INTERKULTUR’S most successful and renowned choral events. Until 2013 choirs from different nations came together in order to celebrate the festival of choral music together in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
Apart from the possibility to discover the flair and architecture of the Hungarian capital choirs were being invited to open the festival with a symphonic choral piece. Compositions like Mahler‘s "Sinfonie der Tausend", Vajda’s "Magnificat", Walten‘s "Belshazzar's Feast" or Fanshawe‘s "African Sanctus" were being performed at the music academy Budapest. This opening ceremony had become a tradition of the International Choir Competition & Festival Budapest.

We congratulate all singers to their great results! All in all 38 golden, 30 silver and 4 bronze diplomas were awarded. Many thanks to all choirs and ensembles for participating!
