Funky Voices in Riga

154 sing for a good cause and for the gold medal

European Choir Games 2017

More than 100 choirs have met the Early Bird Deadline of the 3rd European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017, and the number grows every day! One of the choirs that have caught the special discount is the "Funky-Voices" choir from Essex, near London.

Founded in 2007 by Sandra Colston, Funky Voices, Essex’s largest modern all-inclusive community choir has grown from strength to strength with now over 800 enthusiastic singers meeting the need in the community for something fresh and new, a choir that sings modern music and one that is open to everyone.

Besides the common passion for singing, the singers unite the will using their 800-strong voice power and thus change the world a little bit. To date, Funky Voices has helped to raise over £370,000 for charities local and worldwide. One of these project is BBC’s annual Children in Need appeal, for that the Funky Voices records every year a charity single to be released on November 18.

Sets itself apart from other community choirs offering singers a multitude of varied experiences ranging from once in a lifetime performance opportunities, chances to travel the world and also take part in the recording of albums. Every singer has the fantastic opportunity to perform at over 150 events, tour and compete in music festivals local and worldwide, record multiple albums, appear on TV and radio and perform alongside hugely established music artists. With the Children in Need charity song "Stop", the choir even entered the iTunes charts in England and even surpassed the pop stars of the music scene, such as Adele and Rihanna, on some days. A truly remarkable achievement for a truly good cause!

Around 154 singers of the community strive to win the competition in “Jazz/Pop/Show” of the 3rd European Choir Games next summer.
