Internationales Chorfest Magdeburg

September 11 - 15, 2024 Magdeburg, Germany

Unite in song: A festival of international understanding

Welcome to a festival of choral music and international understanding – the Internationales Chorfest Magdeburg! In late summer 2024 the birthplace of Baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann will host an event where choirs from all over the world come together to connect and share their love of music.

The Chorfest Magdeburg, which has been successfully organized by the Choir Association of Saxony-Anhalt for years, will be complemented by an international INTERKULTUR choir competition, creating a unique opportunity for choirs to meet, sing together and learn from each other.

In addition to the competitions in various categories, the Friendship Concerts are the main focus of this event: at joint concerts with the local choirs, you will get to know the tradition-rich city in the most beautiful way and experience its extensive cultural offerings at first hand.

Furthermore, the diverse, additional concert activities of the local choirs provide an exciting framework program. A wonderful synergy effect that will inspire all participating choirs!

Be there and look forward to new friendships and unique, intercultural encounters.

Destination

The regional capital Magdeburg is one of the oldest cities in Germany's new federal states, although the course of its history has not always been smooth. As an imperial seat, Hanseatic power and fortified city, Magdeburg has repeatedly been ravaged by war and destruction. Yet it has always had faith in its own future, has always rebuilt and reinvented itself, whilst preserving the memory of the two Ottos who shaped the city.
