10,000 kilometers from Croatia to Monterey

Čarobna frula starts an exciting trip to sing for the Golden State Choral Trophy

Golden State Choral Trophy

Only one week left until we will meet, sing and celebrate together in sunny California. Amongst 17 choirs that will compete in the Golden State Choral Trophy festival is the "Čarobna frula" from Croatia. In order to present their competition program the young singers have to cover a flight distance of almost 10 000 kilometers. A long and exciting journey is ahead of them.

The non-profit organization Croatian Music Society “Čarobna frula” (Magic Flute) was founded in 1992 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The foundation’s purpose is helping talented children to develop their artistic skills and, as it is written in the Statute of "Čarobna frula", the support of Good, Truth, and Beauty.

The most precious protégés of Čarobna frula are children gathered in choir called “Vrapčići” (which means Little Sparrows). The best singers from Vrapčići formed in 1999 the vocal ensemble Čarobna frula, and, in larger formation, the choir.

From 2000 to 2014 Čarobna frula, conducted by Marijan Milić, won 38 prizes at international choir competitions. Furthermore the choir is the only one who has participated in each of the first eight World Choir Games. Thus, it is not surprise that the choir is taking place 324 (as of August 2016) at the INTERKULTUR World Rankings.

INTERKULTUR wishes a save trip and good luck for the competition!
