Results of all 2018 events now included

World Rankings

INTERKULTUR is running the only World Rankings for choirs based on the groups’ results in all INTERKULTUR competitions since the year 2000. The last update in the year 2018 has now been published, including also the autumn events in Corfu, Porec, Grado and Calella following the last update in August 2018.

The leading choir of the TOP 1000 list is still unquestioned: Stellenbosch University Choir from South Africa under the direction of André van der Merwe is still ranking on the first place – unconquered since October 2012!

In this most recent update of the INTERKULTUR World Rankings the highest new entry in the TOP 1000 list is the Västgöta Nations Manskör Korgossarna from Sweden. The choir won the Grand Prize as well as the categories "Sacred Choral Music" and "Male Choirs - Level of difficulty I" at the INTERKULTUR event "Isola del Sole" in Grado/Italy in September this year. Due to this outstanding success in their first-ever INTERKULTUR event participation they reached rank #44 in the list of TOP 1000 at the first go and even came second place in the individual list of Male Choirs. Congratulations!

The second highest new entry is "Collegium Vocale Celje" from Slovenia, Grand Prize Winner of "ISTRAMUSICA 2018" in Porec, Croatia, which got place 116 in the list of TOP 1000.

Karangturi Choir from Indonesia could also achieve a great success: After their participation in the choral event “Isola del Sole” in Grado/Italy in September their category wins in “Folklore” and “Children’s Choirs” led them to place 165 on the INTERKULTUR World Rankings.

Check out the complete list of the TOP 1000 choirs here. Also the individual lists for specific kinds of choirs and choral genres have been updated to the current status of 2018 and are available on our website.
