Kick-off for the 10th World Choir Games in Tshwane. One month before the start of the largest international choir competition in the world many media houses in South Africa are already reporting on the event. In order to increase the perception of the event throughout the whole country many national media representatives were invited on June 5 to join a huge launch event in the Sun Arena in Tshwane, the place where participants from more than 60 countries and regions will experience the huge Opening and Closing Ceremonies on July 4 and 14.
INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch attended the event with a delegation from Germany and was impressed by the current state of the preparations on site. In his speech he expressed his anticipation for the World Choir Games in July: “Having South Africa as our host makes a long cherished dream come true – the biggest celebration of choral music will finally take place on the continent that gave the world singing, rhythm and dancing.”
The event was further attended by local and national politics. Many representatives from the Gauteng Province and also the Mayor of the hosting city Tshwane, Mr. Solly Tshepiso Msimanga joined the event. The Mayor was accompanied by 50 colleagues from other cities who were currently in Tshwane for a conference. In his emotional speech Solly Tshesipo Msimanga invited all residents from his city and the whole province to attend the international event in July.
