Holy Name University is a private, Catholic, research, co-educational basic and higher education institution run by the Philippine Southern Province of the Society of the Divine Word in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines.[1] It was founded by Fr. Alphonse G. Lesage, SVD a Divine Word Missionary in 1947. It offers programs in elementary, secondary and tertiary levels.[1] Its tertiary offerings include courses in Arts and Sciences (CAS), Education (COED), Nursing, Medical Technology, Radiologic Technology (CHS),Commerce and Accountancy (CBA), Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology (COECS) and Law (COL) Aside from instruction, HNU engages in research and community extension.[2][3]

It is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).[4]

The school originally had two campuses in Tagbilaran City: the main building (also called Lesage Campus) at the corner of Lesage and Gallares streets and the Janssen Heights Campus in Dampas district. After the October 2013 7.2 magnitude earthquake, the whole operation of the university has been transferred to the Janssen Heights Campus due to the structural damage suffered by the Lesage Campus main building.[4]

The town of Dauis is located in the Island of Panglao, on the side facing Tagbilaran City. Panglao Island nestles closely to the main province of Bohol and is connected to the mainland by two causeways. Located 3.1 kilometers southwest of Tagbilaran, the Dauis Church is visible across the narrow channel from Tagbilaran and can be reached by hiking through a pleasant path, or by riding a motor bike or car. Passenger jeepneys and mini-buses ply the Tagbilaran-Panglao route through three directions; a tourist may simply ask at the terminal as to which ride passes thru Dauis town. Fare: P6.50.

The church occupies a strip of land on the shore of Panglao Island opposite Tagbilaran City. One of the most beautiful churches of Bohol, one gets an excellent view of the church and convento from the Mansasa seaside as one travels from Tagbilaran to Baclayon. The approach from the Gov. Jacinto Borja Bridge also gives an impressive view of this church.

The Tagbilaran Cathedral appears imposing outside, and is wide and roomy inside. It has a Neo-Romanesque façade with corbelled arches underneath the cornice. There is a porch before the main entrance. The statue of Saint Joseph, patron saint of Bohol, stands in front where once the atrial cross stood.

Both the interior and exterior of the church of Spanish times have been greatly renovated. Despite frequent renovations to meet modern-day requirements, some historic pieces still remain. The side altars are of the 18th century baroque style. The main or center altar, simply but elegantly decorated with ornate gold designs depicting symbols of Old Testament times, is in the 19th century Neoclassical style.

Conductor of Dongducheon Municipal Choir (Professional), Yeoju Municipal Choir, Suwon Ladies’ Choir, Mapo OB Choir and Seoul Women's Choir Association. Lecturer at Korea National University of Arts, Seoul Jangshin University, Graduate School of Jeonju University, and Korean Baptist Seminary. Korean representative of the International Conductors' Exchange Program (ICEP).

Dr. Yu-Chung Johnny Ku is the Music Director of Taipei Philharmonic Chorus and Chamber Choir, and the Taipei International Choral Festival and Competition. He is also an assistant professor in the National Taiwan University of Arts, an executive board member of Taiwan Choral Association, a member of the World Choral Council, a member of the Asia-Pacific working committee in the International Federation for Choral Music, one of the founding directors of the Asian Choral Association.

Dr. Ku has given concerts, masterclasses, workshops, and lectures around the world, including Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, China / Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, China / Macao SAR, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, and the USA. He also serves as the Chorus Master for more than 50 operas and choral-symphonic productions. In addition, he has been an adjudicator in international competitions, such as the World Choir Games, World Choral Festival, Bali International Choral Competition, Busan Choral Festival and Competition, and several others.

Dr. Yu-Chung John Ku received his D.M.A. from the College-Conservatory of Music in University of Cincinnati and holds a master's degree from Temple University.

Jonathan Velasco is a much sought-after choral conductor, clinician and adjudicator in the world today.

He and his choirs have won first prizes in major European choral competitions. He regularly adjudicates choral competitions in Europe and Asia, and gives choral conducting workshops and choral clinics worldwide. He currently conducts the Ateneo Chamber Singers.

Velasco is the Philippine representative in the INTERKULTUR World Choir Council. He was elected the first President of the Philippine Choral Directors Association in 2008. He was awarded the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival Ryan Cayabyab 2022 Award for his lifelong excellent contribution to Filipino choir music. He was recently appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to the Board of Trustees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
