Farewell to 2023 and Cheers to New Beginnings!
Grateful for the joint journey, excited for more lying ahead
The curtain falls on another remarkable year, and we are filled with gratitude and joy for the incredible journey we've shared with you, our global choir community. Together, we've created unforgettable moments, transcending distances and celebrating the universal language of music.
In 2023, our events resonated with diversity and passion, welcoming a total of 579 choirs from 67 countries and regions to the stage. A special shout-out goes to The Difertimento Vocal Ensemble from Jakarta, Indonesia, for traveling an impressive 11,800 km to join us at Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional in Calella, Spain, which was the furthest trip a choir has taken on this year to be part of our event.
Breaking down the numbers, the voices of 6,746 sopranos, 5,173 altos, 2,816 tenors, and 3,036 basses sounded around the world this year, culminating in a breathtaking total of 17,771 voices – a symbol for a symphony of unity and shared passion that reverberates far beyond the competition stage.
The best choir of the year is the Diocesan Boys' School Choir from China/Hong Kong SAR, conducted by Felix Shuen. The group achieved the best results in 2023, according to the rules of the INTERKULTUR World Rankings. Congratulations to this outstanding achievement!
Looking ahead to 2024, we are thrilled to embark on new adventures, including our first-ever international choir event in the culturally rich Cambodia and its capital Phnom Penh, a metropolis in full evolution. Moreover, the melody of the World Choir Games will resonate on a new continent, New Zealand, with Auckland as our warm host city in July.
As we bid farewell to this memorable year, we extend our warmest wishes for health, happiness, and success to you and your loved ones. May the coming year bring fresh opportunities for growth, the fulfillment of ambitions, and an abundance of joy and contentment.
