International Choir Festival in Perugia and Assisi has been opened

VOICES FOR PEACE

In a harmonious celebration of unity, the fourth edition of the International Choir Festival Voices for Peace brought together 24 choirs from 17 nations and officially opened its doors in Perugia, Italy, on September 27, 2023, with a stirring Opening Concert in the Aula Magna at University of Perugia.

The choir of the University of Perugia, conducted by Marta Alunni Pini, welcomed their international guests and opened the concert with "Panis Angelicus" by Salvatore Silivestro, capturing the hearts of the audience.

The singers then continued to enchant the audience with Ennio Morricone's "C'era una volta il West" and “Gaudeamus Igitur," arranged by Salvatore Silivestro. Their music set the tone for an evening of harmony and cultural exchange.

Maestro Giovanni Acciai, Artistic Director of the festival, took the stage to officially welcome all participants, emphasizing the festival's commitment to peace. He highlighted the importance of cherishing peace, especially in a world marred by conflict. The festival's name, "Voices for Peace," speaks to this mission of promoting fraternity and peace through the universal language of choral music.

As the evening progressed, the audience embarked on a musical journey around the world. Choirs from Austria, Spain, Norway, and Indonesia showcased their talents, delivering captivating performances that left the audience in awe. This evening, the choirs have set the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary and inspiring event in the days to come!

In his closing remarks, Giovanni Acciai stressed once again the festival's dedication to promoting peace and harmony through music. He said that, by coming together, these choirs and their music transcended boundaries and spread a message of hope and unity to a world in need of it.

The Opening Concert ended, but the music is just starting. Over the next few days, choirs will participate in competitions and concerts, continuing to share their voices and messages of peace. We’re looking forward to a memorable celebration of music, culture, and friendship, reminding us all of the profound power of Voices for Peace.
