Music for young and old

Participants give Friendship Concerts in schools and retirement homes

Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional

On the occasion of the Canta al mar Festival Friendship Concerts will take place this year also in schools and retirement homes in Calella and will make choral music from around the world accessible to different generations.

INTERKULTUR Friendship Concerts unite not only choirs and cultures from different countries, but also offer the audience an overview of international choral music concentrated in one place in a very short time.

The aim of the concerts for children is to offer an access to joint music making. With colorful costumes and different sounds from Indonesia and Finland, the choirs will arouse the interest of the children, to sing themselves and to learn more about the choral nation.

Concerts in retirement homes serve to give a pleasure to the older generation and to create links to their past. Familiar sounds from the youth help many older people to awaken memories of the past. When listening to music neurological processes are activated in the brain so that the people remember certain things, such as friends, significant stages of life or even just  one special moment. Their memory gets almost a makeover for this moment - a positive effect while enjoying choral music.

The Friendship Concerts in Calella offer all generations the opportunity to enjoy international choral sounds and additionally to get in touch with different cultures.

More information about the Friendship Concerts can be found on the event website of the Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional. The concerts for the young and old people will take place on Friday, October 21 at 11 a.m. More information will follow soon.
