On Tuesday, February 21, many people from the choral scene, family, friends, companions and colleagues bid farewell to Christian Ljunggren in the Stockholm Cathedral in Sweden. The Presidency of INTERKULTUR and the World Choir Council as well as representatives of the board of directors attended the ceremony in order to do honor to the Honorary President of INTERKULTUR and its longtime friend and colleague.

Two choirs performed at the funeral service. The Adolf Fredrik Madrigal Choir that Christian Ljunggren had conducted for more than 50 years, since 1965, and the Nicolai Chamber Choir, the conductor of which he was since 1974.

Christian Ljunggren was one of INTERKULTUR’s Artistic Directors for many years and in December 2016 he was appointed its Honorary President. On February 4, 2017 he passed away only a few days after his 75th birthday after a serious illness.
