On October 5, 2017 the international choir competition at the ISTRAMUSICA choir festival celebrates the beginning of three eventful days full of choral music when 21 choirs from 10 nations come together to perform, compete and befriend.

At 15:30h the traditional choir parade starts at the Liberty Square and continues with the opening ceremony at 16:00h, where participants will be welcomed by the city of Poreč and INTERKULTUR and get to know each other for the first time. A Friendship Concert of Congolese, Romanian and Russian choirs will mark the first performance of this event and the first competition in category Pop, Jazz, Gospel finally concludes the first competition day of ISTRAMUSICA.

On Friday, October 6, 2017 the competition performances are in full swing: At 10:30h Female, Male and Mixed Choirs will face the international juror at the Crkva Gospe od Anđela church. At 14:30h Mixed Choirs, Youth and Children’s Choirs as well as Sacred Choral Music A Cappella will be seen on stage of the same venue. Another Friendship Concert at the Liberty Square at 17:30h marks the end of day 2.

Day 3 starts with one of the most popular categories, Folklore, at 10:15h at the Istarska Sabornica, where five nations will showcase their country-specific choral sounds and costumes. At 11:00h a Friendship Concert with four nations at the Euphrasian Basilica once again highlights the central aspect of this coming together: Crossing borders by the means of choral music.

At 16:00h the Grand Prize Competition at Istarska Sabornica puts a spotlight on the best choirs of ISTRAMUSICA. They will compete for the victory and 2.000€ prize money as well. At 17:00h finally the Liberty Square becomes the venue for one of the most emotional procedures of this event – the Awards and Closing Ceremony which will at the same time bid farewell to all singers of this premiere event in Poreč.
