When people from different cultures stand side by side and sing with one voice, music becomes far more than a performance. It becomes a symbol of understanding, friendship, and peace.

The Peace Concert at the World Choir Games 2026 invites audiences to experience exactly this spirit on 11 August at St. Mary’s Church (St. Maria Kyrka) in Helsingborg.

Five choirs from Sweden, Romania, Mexico, New Zealand, and Chinese Taipei will create an evening filled with musical diversity and shared experiences. Each choir will first present its own repertoire before all singers join together for a series of inspiring combined performances. Together with the audience, they will create a musical space where borders fade into the background and the unifying power of singing becomes truly tangible.

One of the evening's special highlights will be the meeting of Maria Gospel, whose home church is St. Maria Kyrka, and the United Auckland Gospel Choir from New Zealand. Two gospel choirs from opposite sides of the world come together to share their passion for gospel music and celebrate the joy of singing—perfectly reflecting the spirit of the World Choir Games.

Renowned Swedish singer Andreas Aleman will add another special dimension to the concert with his remarkable voice. Together with the international choirs, he will perform songs including Fix You, Hallelujah, Dona Nobis Pacem, Mad Love, Whenever Until Forever, and Little Human. The combined performances, bringing together around 250 singers from across the globe, will be led by distinguished Swedish conductors Fred Sjöberg and Ragnar Bohlin.

The Peace Concert in Helsingborg is already the seventh concert in INTERKULTUR's series of musical peace initiatives. Since the first Peace Concert at the European Choir Games 2015 in Magdeburg, INTERKULTUR has regularly organized concerts promoting understanding, humanity, and peace through music. These have included two online Peace Concerts in 2022 – one of them serving as the countdown to the World Choir Games in Gangneung – as well as two New Year's greetings for peace and the acclaimed PEACE Concert during the European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations Aarhus 2025.

Each of these concerts has brought together voices from around the world to express a shared hope for a more peaceful future through music.
