Finishing touches for the big show

Opening ceremony rehearsals

World Choir Games 2016

The Opening Ceremony of the World Choir Games is a lavish event to greet the choirs of the world. The host country introduces itself, its music and culture; the World Choir Games flag will be raised; the national flags of all countries represented at the Games will enter the hall, the Peace Bell of the World Choir Games will be ringed five times, one time for each continent: America, Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia…

All of this needs a long phase of preparations to present a perfect show. Today the last rehearsals happened in the Bolshoy Ice Dome where tomorrow the participants can expect a huge and spectacular show to open the 9th World Choir Games 2016. Everybody who will be involved tomorrow was there: the orchestra, the singers, flag bearers, and also INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch who will open the official part of the ceremony with his greeting to the choral world, all participants and the host city. Also this must be practiced to ensure a perfect show tomorrow evening.

After the ceremonial part of the opening Russia will introduce its song traditions to the audience. Starting from the early liturgical church singing the audience will experience a musical journey through Russian music history until the present age.

The official song “One Song – one World” will officially close the ceremony and open the 9th World Choir Games 2016. Can’t wait for it!
