Berlin 2017: Today’s highlights

Competitions and Friendship Concerts

Grand Prix of Nations

Berlin is a hot spot of choral culture in these days – the Fest der Chorkulturen organized by the Berlin Radio Choir in cooperation with INTERKULTUR is in full swing. The first of 30 participating choirs coming from 15 nations have already done a great job in yesterday’s competition – some of them even qualified from the Open Competition to the Grand Prix of Nations.

Today the competitions continue. In the morning (starting 10:00 am) Children’s Choirs will go on stage in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie and present their skills in front of the jury, followed by Youth Choirs. In this category also the choirs will compete who had qualified for this competition only yesterday through their performance in the Open Competition.

The Matthäus Church will again be host for two Friendship Concerts today, at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Choirs will meet and perform in a relaxed and friendly way – far from the competition atmosphere in the Berliner Philharmonie, where Mixed, Female and Male Choirs as well as Chamber Choirs and Vocal Ensembles will compete in the afternoon (starting 3:00 pm).

Before the Philharmonie will open its doors at 8:00 pm for the ticketed competition concerts of the Musica Contemporanea category, choirs from Germany, Argentina and Brazil will go on stage for another international Friendship Concert.

If you happen to be in Berlin today we wish you a lot of fun and great pleasures of choral sounds! Please follow us on Facebook for more updates!
