A choral trip to Assisi
The City of World Peace will unite choirs for a peaceful competition
From April 19 to 23, 2017 the medieval town of Assisi in Italy is a meeting place for choirs from all over the world, when it says: VOICES FOR PEACE! Assisi, famous as a pilgrimage place, will be the host of the four-day International Choir Festival, which is dedicated to singing together for the world peace.
In nine different competition categories with a focus on sacred choral music a cappella and with accompaniment, the participating choirs can present their skills. Historical venues in the thousand year old town and the famous Basilica San Francesco will give the Choir Festival a special framework and offer a historical stage for intercultural encounters in Friendship Concerts.
A highlight of the event will be the opening mass in the Portiuncola Chapel, where once St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Italy died. Today the chapel is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the world. All participating choirs are cordially invited to attend the mass in this historical and so important place for Christianity.
Choirs which register until September 19, 2016 can benefit from the early bird discount. The regular registration deadline will end on December 5, 2016. All information about the International Choir Festival VOICES FOR PEACE can be found on the event’s website.
