A Thousand Years to Live

Westminster Choir Homecoming Concert

Sing'n'Joy Princeton

Do all your work as though you had a thousand years to live,
and as you would if you knew you must die tomorrow.

-- Ann Lee

Under this motto and as part of “Sing’n’Joy Princeton” 2017 the Westminster Choir will present its Home Coming concert on February 18 at 8:00 p.m. at Princeton University. Their concert announcement promises a great concert experience of high artistic quality: “From traditional shape-note singing to Paul Crabtree’s The Valley of Delight: Death and Resurrection, the expressive singing of the Westminster Choir explores the gifts and challenges each day presents to the world. The program includes Uģis Prauliņš’ Laudibus in sanctis, Johannes Brahms’ Abendständchen, and much more.”

The Westminster Choir is a choir with a long tradition, composed of students at Westminster Choir College, one of the most renowned conservatories of music in the world and part of Rider University’s Westminster College of the Arts in Princeton, New Jersey.

It is no exaggeration, when the choir states at its website that it’s “setting the standard for choral excellence for 96 years”. The Westminster Choir also forms the core of the Grammy award-winning Westminster Symphonic Choir, which has performed and recorded with the leading conductors and orchestras including New York Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, and Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. They have also worked with renowned professional orchestras conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Abbado and many others.

Admission to the “A Thousand Years in Live” concert in February is free, but tickets are required. For more information about ticket order, please write at mailwhatever@interkultur.com.
