4th International Choir Competition "VOICES FOR PEACE"

From September 27 to 30 this year, the fourth edition of the International Choir Festival "VOICES FOR PEACE," will take place in Perugia and Assisi, Italy. This significant event for international choral music is organized by INTERKULTUR in collaboration with the Italian Association of Chamber Music (ASSIOMI), the Municipality of Perugia, the University of Perugia, and AGIMUS / MUSICA DAL MONDO.

The Artistic Director of the event is Maestro Giovanni Acciai. The Opening Concert will commence on Wednesday, September 27, at 6:00 PM in the Great Hall of the University of Perugia and will feature performances by some participating choirs, including the University Choir under the direction of Marta Alunni Pini.

The competitions take place in categories a cappella and with accompaniment, including Sacred Choral Music, Adult choirs, Children's Choirs, Youth Choirs, and Folklore, and happen in the same Great Hall of the University, the Aula Magna dell'Universitá Per Stranieri, the Notari Hall, and the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate. An international jury composed of Marco Berrini (Italy), Marit Tøndel Bodsberg (Norway), and Xavier Garcia Cardona (Spain) will evaluate the performances.

Other non-competitive performances are scheduled for Thursday, September 28, at the Universitá Per Stranieri (6:00 PM) and in Assisi at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore (9:00 PM), while on Friday, September 29, concerts are planned in the Notari Hall (12:30 PM) and at the Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in Assisi (9:00 PM).

The final day of the event will also be hosted at the University of Perugia. On September 30, starting at 5:00 PM in the Aula Magna, the Grand Prize Competition will begin, where winners in their respective categories will compete for the title "Voices for Peace 2023" and a prize money of €1,500.

Following this, there will be an Awards Ceremony with the presentation of diplomas. The event is endorsed by the Umbria Region, the Municipality of Perugia, ARCUM (Regional Association of Umbria Choirs), and the University of Perugia itself.
