ON STAGE

The weekend from November 10 - 13, 2016 ten choirs from Morocco, Norway, Israel, Czech Republic, Croatia, India, Great Britain and Bulgaria will meet in picturesque Prague for the last 2016 edition of INTERKULTUR’s ON STAGE event series.

In Prague they will not only experience the beauty of the Czech Republic’s capital but also will learn about the city’s choral music tradition in a workshop held by the internationally acclaimed Czech conductor Richard Uhlíř, co-founder, leader and bass singer of the famous vocal ensemble “Gentlemen Singers”.

Richard Uhlíř (*1982) is a former member of the Czech Boys Choir Boni Pueri where he also gained his first experience as a conductor when leading the preparatory sections of the choir. He was also the assistant of the main choir’s conductor for two years. He recorded many CDs and toured internationally as well. The latest recording with the Gentlemen Singers, Contemplatio Caeli, focused on contemporary sacred music and won the highest award by the prestigious Czech music magazine Harmony.

In his workshop Richard Uhlíř will teach the ON STAGE participants “Choral Music and Tradition in Prague” and give them an understanding of the choir tradition in their host city. In a final concert all choirs will have a joint performance with pieces from the workshop.

The ON STAGE event series will continue in 2017! Destinations will be Nice, Verona, Bilbao, Stockholm, Florence, Barcelona, Brussels, Lisbon, Paris and Prague again. More information can be found here.
