Sunny outlook for all choral enthusiasts

Colorful parade and Opening Concert with choirs from all over the world lighten up the island

Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition

Today the weather is good with the international choirs, which today are marching through the picturesque town of Corfu at the Choir Parade and will present themselves to the guests and Corfu’s citizens.

After all choirs will have gathered at the Municipal Theatre at 4:30 p.m., the approximately 960 singers will walk together to the Esplanade. But that's not all: it will be noisy in Corfu! Three brass bands, including the "Kapodis Trias" and "Palaia Filarmoniki", and four dancing groups will accompany the Choir Parade and heat up the crowd. Curious people are invited to welcome the singers at the edge of the road!

At the Opening Concert in the evening at 8:30 p.m. in the Municipal Theatre, representatives of the city as well as INTERKULTUR will be guests. The "Hymn to Corfu" performed by the choir Kerkyraiki Kantada Mandolinata from Greece will opened the concert. In addition, the choirs Mješoviti Hor "Srbadija" (Bosnia and Herzegovina), InDONNAtion (Greece) and the Pylaia - Chortiatis Youth Choir (Greece) will perform traditional folklore from their homelands.

Being a tradition at many INTERKULTUR events, also in Corfu all participants will sing two pieces together, a Greek dance song "Rouga" and the Haitian song "Fèy oh!". The songs will be conducted by Fred Sjöberg, Artistic Director of the festival, and Dimitris Ktistakis, a member of the Artistic Committee.

We are looking forward to the first Singing Together of the 1st Corfu International Festival and Choral Competition!
