World Choir Championships for Youth and Young Adults

July 10 - 17, 2011 Graz, Austria

Graz 2011

The World Choir Games in Graz in 2008 have been one of the biggest and most successful INTERKULTUR events so far. The city’s location in the heart of Europe and its hospitable atmosphere fascinated all participants.

This was reason enough for INTERKULTUR to organize another major event for the international choral scene in Graz: the 1st World Choir Championships for Youth and Young Adults. The World Choir Games imply singing as a whole, in all styles. The World Choir Championships, however, are dedicated to individual categories. The World Choir Championships 2011 were particularly planned for children’s choirs, youth choirs and choirs of young adults from all over the world.

Children’s and youth choirs in particular attend continually the INTERKULTUR events in order to prove their skills, to receive evaluations and to show their quality improvements or simply to experience the unique atmosphere of such an event. A lot of them participated in the World Choir Games several times and are now looking for new challenges. In 2011 roughly 120 choirs took the chance to become the first-ever World Choir Champion of Youth and Young Adults.

A parade of the choirs, open air concerts in the city center, daily performances of winners and gala concerts in a great ambience were just some of the various opportunities to hear choirs from all over the world. Singers made the whole city of Graz resound, a whole week-long.
