Silent Night – A Virtual World Tour
Join in and let’s make the Silent Night less silent this year!
This year, Christmas will be different. The places such as churches, concert halls and theaters that are usually filled with choral voices and people listening to and even singing Christmas carols together, will be silent this year. While singing is usually the strongest expression of harmony and coming together, especially during the Christmas season, it will be much more difficult to experience a feeling of togetherness this year.
But we don’t want to resign ourselves to that situation: As a sign of solidarity and staying together, we will send a special song around the world – and make the “Silent Night” less silent. Therefore, we ask YOU to sing with us in a virtual singing world tour. And which song could suit better than “Silent Night” for this purpose – one of the most popular and most translated pieces in the world.
Here’s how you can join in:
1. Download everything you need:
♦ "Silent Night" backing track (MP3, 5.3 MB)
♦ "Silent Night" scores in an
English version as an example and a
blank version to write in the lyrics in your own language (PDF, 130 KB)
♦ Instruction Guide (PDF, 195 KB)
2. Sing along the first two verses (the melody!) of “Silent Night” in your own language and record yourself with your mobile phone (in landscape format). You can find more details about how to do it in our Instruction Guide. You are welcome to "decorate" yourself in a Christmassy way or maybe use traditional elements or even the flag from your home country.
3. Send the video file of your recording by WeTransfer (www.wetransfer.com) or another program, which allows you to send a link to download the video directly (Google Drive, qq.com, etc.). Please send the file to online(at)interkultur.com until December 10, 2020.
We will create a video from your submissions and produce a “Silent Night” music video in many different languages. The video will be published on December 24, 2020 on our Facebook page and on INTERKULTUR.TV.
