Successful workshop sessions come to a close

Latest news

From May 10 - 20 a “Prelude to Sochi” tour including several workshops for choral conductors and choirs in preparation for the World Choir Games 2016 took place in China. On May 10 the tour launched with a choral conductor workshop in Qingdao. Fred Sjöberg from Sweden, General Artistic Director of INTERKULTUR, Angela Broeker (USA) and Chen Guanghui (China) acted as clinicians and hold sessions about the choral scene around the world, choral conducting, performing skills, choral music against cultural backgrounds and about the way choral singing has changed and developed in China over the past decades. The conference continued until May 12 with more lectures about choral conducting, training methods for singers, and more.

Attracting 70 conductors and 4 choirs the session in Qingdao was very successful. All delegates and choirs responded with very positive credits and comments towards the event.

Following the conference in Qingdao the clinicians toured China and hold more workshops in other cities like Guangzhou, Tianjin and Beijing with more choirs and interested conductors. They visited also choirs that will participate in the upcoming World Choir Games 2016 in Sochi and were happy to take the opportunity of the INTERKULTUR workshops in their country as an excellent possibility for further preparation for the competition.

The World Choir Games 2016 will be held from July 6-16, 2016 in the Winter Olympic City of Sochi, Russia. More information about the event can be found at www.wcg2016.com.
