Pedagogical proposals are an important part of INTERKULTUR’s choral activities since its beginnings. Many competitions include numerous opportunities for education: Choirs can seek advice in regard to their repertoire selection. With regard to the upcoming performances the international jury offers useful tipps and suggestions.

However, INTERKULTUR also arranges separate educational events. For many years there is an education system in China with regularly arranged seminar weeks for conductors, for example. These conductors’ seminars are now being spread to other countries: In these days INTERKULTUR General Artistic Director Fred Sjöberg and World Choir Council member Aida Swenson (Indonesia) are working with choral conductors and vocal teachers in Jayapura, located in the region of Papua in Indonesia. “The participants are very enthusiastic. They come from 43 regions of both Papua and West Papua,” as we learned from Aida Swenson.

The seminar provides the participants with the possibility of raising their standard of conducting and their knowledge about international choral music and established choral pedagogy.
