High expectations on the 2nd International Festival & Choir Competition in Corfu

Press conference to highlight a colorful event of music and friendship

Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition

The 2nd Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition is already on a good way promising an excellent choral gathering of many different nations, cultures and singers from September 12-16, 2018.

The Artistic team of INTERKULTUR, namely Artistic Director Fred Sjöberg and Project Coordinator Julia Hoppe are currently in Corfu for productive working meetings to push the event preparation forward and to strengthen the collaboration with the local organizing team on site.

During a press conference on April 12 Corfu Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos was excited about the fantastic number of choirs coming: Weeks before the official registration deadline (May 14) already 16 choirs from 12 nations have announced to participate and to bring their traditions and music to the Green Island. Nikolouzos ensured that his team was working hard to lead this event to a great success again.

The Corfu event perfectly affiliated to the festivities related to INTERKULTUR’s 30th anniversary in 2018, stressed Fred Sjöberg at the press conference.

The teams in Corfu and at INTERKULTUR are looking forward to hold a fantastic, colorful second edition of this event. The first Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition took place in 2016 and was highly acclaimed by participants and visitors.

One new highlight for the event’s second edition can also be announced already by the organizers: This time there will be a huge choir party. It promises to be a great evening of music, friendship and happiness following the grand final of the event – the Grand Prize Competition of the best choirs and the festive Awards Ceremony afterwards.

Choirs that are still interested in joining this choral celebration in Corfu still have the chance to register until May 14. All further information is available at http://corfu.interkultur.com.
