Open Repertoire for Mixed Choirs

World Choir Games 2018

Packed concert venues, enthusiastic singers and visitors and the choral community’s desire for more – time to introduce another choral goodie for you: Category C28 – Open Repertoire for Mixed Choirs.

Those of you who didn’t have the chance yet to watch choirs on stage have now the possibility to experience a newly introduced category at the World Choir Games 2018, which gives consideration to special African repertoires. Sibongile Khumalo, Convener of the National Artistic Committee of the event explains:

“In keeping with the spirit of celebrating various voices, the 10th World Choir Games in Tshwane 2018 has created a special category, Category 28 - Open Repertoire for Mixed Choirs, to give choirs the opportunity to participate in the World Choir Games in an open competition without the limitation of repertoire. The repertoire of the choirs that have registered ranges from African choral compositions, opera chorus excerpts and excerpts from Oratorio.“

Category 28 is scheduled for Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Opera Stage - South African State Theatre. Block one starts at 10h30, block two starts at 15h00. Tickets are available at https://wcg.nutickets.co.za.
