The INTERKULTUR World Rankings 2017 are complete

Golden autumn days recently enchanted choirs and audience at international choir competitions in Porec (Croatia), Kalamata (Greece), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Calella (Spain). The results of all these choral events have now been added to the INTERKULTUR World Rankings; check out the updated list of the best choirs on our website!

One of the most successful groups this fall was “Paduan Suara Mahasiswa Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta” from Indonesia. The singers were double crowned as Champion of the Asia Pacific Choir Games and Winners of the Grand Prix of Nations in the “Folklore a cappella” category at the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations Colombo 2017. Due to this success the choir improved its ranking in an incredible way: Being placed on rank #423 before, the choir now ranks #42 among the 1000 best choirs in the world. The choir is even debuting highest in the list of the 50 best Folklore choirs this time, where it came in 6th.

Another very successful choir in this second half of the INTERKULTUR choral year 2017 was the Russian ensemble “Akademitchesky Khor Musikalnogo Uchilishcha RAM imeni Gnessin”, which won the Grand Prize of ISTRAMUSICA in Porec. The choir entered the list of the 50 best Children and Youth Choirs on place 8 and now ranks #31 in the Top 1000 list.

Also the Indonesian Hotumese Choir, which won the Gospel, Spiritual, Music of Spirit and Faith category at both the Asia Pacific Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations Colombo 2017 can be happy about a high new entry. They’re debuting rank #44 in the list of the TOP 1000.
