Wernigerode sounds again in 2021!

Registration for 12th Johannes Brahms Choir Festival is possible

Johannes Brahms Int. Choir Festival & Competition

In 2021 choirs and music groups from all over the world will meet again for the 12th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition in Wernigerode. From July 21-25 the city will once again be visited by choir singers from every corner of the globe in their colorful national costumes, whose international melodies sound throughout the city.

In addition to the established elements, there will be a competitive innovation in 2021: Due to many requests, the organisers of INTERKULTUR and the city of Wernigerode are once again giving Pop & Jazz choirs their own stage and are again offering "Pop & Jazz" as a separate competition category. As always, the performances will be judged by a top-class jury consisting of international choral experts.

Registration for the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition is now possible for amateur choirs from Germany and all over the world. Detailed information regarding participation and registration is already available here.

The numerous local choirs from Wernigerode and the surrounding area are also expressly invited to register - be it to take part in the competition or simply to get to know choirs from other countries and to perform together with them in Friendship Concerts.

The International Conductor’s Seminar will also take place again in 2021 in the run-up to the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition. After a break of several years, this seminar was re-introduced in 2019 and was very well received by the participants. Therefore, from July 17-21, 2021, the seminar leaders Romāns Vanags (Latvia) and André van der Merwe (South Africa) together with the Artistic Director Peter Habermann (Wernigerode) will once again welcome young and talented conductors.

The Conductor's Seminar is organized in cooperation with the Landesgymnasium für Musik and the Radio Youth Choir Wernigerode. Further information can be found here.
