Singing at Westminster Choir College

First choirs have registered for Sing’n’Joy Princeton 2017

Sing'n'Joy Princeton

Sing’n’Joy Princeton will be a unique choir festival in the INTERKULTUR event series featuring performances of the world renowned Westminster Choir College as well as The American Boy Choir. There are two very early choirs that won’t miss that chance and already registered weeks before the Early Bird deadline for the event ends on July 25.

First there are Vassar College Majors, a very young ensemble that formed in 2015. It’s a student-run, auditioned, mixed choral ensemble from Poughkeepsie, NY. Conducted by Nick Ruggeri ’18, repertoire spans all genres and includes a cappella and accompanied works from the Medieval, Renaissance, Romantic, and Contemporary periods. In addition to on-campus concerts each semester, Majors performs outside of Vassar in community and travel performances.

Then there’s the Liberty North High School Concert Choir from Missouri to come to Princeton next year. Formed in 2010 with the opening of the school, the ensemble has established itself as an integral part of the school culture. With only twenty-nine members in the first year, the rapid growth in the choral music program now sees the Concert Choir as the top ensemble on campus along with five other choirs. Throughout its short history, the Concert Choir has earned consistent high ratings at contests and festivals throughout the Kansas City area.

The main focus in the ensemble is to recognize and celebrate the abilities and unique characteristics that each person brings to the ensemble. The choir seeks out opportunities to perform with other ensembles to share music, ideas, and their passion for choral music. The trip to Princeton marks the first opportunity for the choir to travel and share excellent music with choirs from all over the world.

Those who would like to share this experience with Vassar College Majors and Liberty North High School Concert Choir can still meet the early bird registration deadline on July 25 or the regular deadline on September 19. The detailed registration information can be found here.
