Local groups look forward to their international guests

Two choirs from Thailand join the competition

Lanna Int. Choir Competition

Today is the last chance to register for the 1st Lanna International Choir Competition in Chiang Mai, Thailand from October 19-23, 2016. Two groups from the host country have already announced to be part of the event and look forward to welcome their international guests.

The Rangsit University Concert Singers is a brand new choir and a first-time participant at INTERKULTUR competitions. The group was founded in 2016 by Dolhathai Intawong, Choral Director of the Conservatory of Music at the Rangsit University in Bangkok. The singers’ aim is to spread choral music in Thailand. Therefor they give many public concerts in the entire country. The group consist of all Rangsit University Alumni who share the same passion for singing.

The second choir from Thailand that registered for the event is the Montfort Children’s Choir and comes from the host city Chiang Mai. They are already experienced in international competitions since they already participated in the World Choir Games 2006 in Xiamen and in 2010 in Shaoxing, China.

The choir was established by Brother Antonio for students with 8-11 years of age. They used to have only young male singers but in the last 4 years they started to admit female singers as well. Currently, the Montfort Children’s Choir is lead and conducted by Mr. Supamit Prasobkiet.

The group is proud to have so many international singers in its city in October and looks forward to the 1st Lanna International Choir Competition 2016.
