Grado, the Golden Island

Choir competition “Isola del Sole” invites to sing and a sunny rest

Isola del Sole

From September 28 to October 2, 2016 INTERKULTUR invites choirs from all over the world for a competition and festival of choral music to the Adriatic Coast in Italy, to Grado. Reason enough to take a closer look at this place:

Grado, located on an island and adjacent peninsula at the Gulf of Venice, is also called the “Sunny Island”. It’s the only town at the Adriatic coast where all beaches are in line with South and therefore offer sunshine the whole day.

Along with the island Grado has also a lagune which is one of the most varied landscapes in Italy. Compared with other lagunes the lagune of Grado is very salty and home for a rank and lush flora and fauna. More than 150 different bird species are living here and there’s also a huge variety of mussels and fishes: The Capa Tonda and the Venus shell as well as different species of shrimps, Dover soles and perches have their natural habitat here.

Grado will host an international choral festival in a homelike and familiar atmosphere. Short distances, unique venues like the Sant’Eufemia Cathedral, which was constructed in the 5th century, as well as the Basilika of Aquileia and the historic old town inviting for cozy walks, will ensure that people are constantly meeting each other and make new intercultural and musical friendships.
