Afterwork Choir

You can never sing enough!

Chorfest Watzenborn-Steinberg

On the occasion of the anniversary of two local choirs – "Harmonie" and "Sängerkranz" – choirs will bring the Hessian Pohlheim to sound from June 17-19. The reason is a national competition organized by the anniversary choirs. 46 choirs will attend the event and will present their musical skills in front of the five-person jury. One of them is the  the "Afterwork Chor".

The Afterwork choir belongs to the choral association "Harmonie 1859 Gambach" and was founded in 2005. Roughly 30 singers have gathered to sing something more after the regular choral rehearsal. The repertoire consists of polyphonic pieces, ambitious sacred choral music as well as pop songs.

Their claim is "to present the rehearsed choral pieces in a perfect sound and full of emotions to the audience. The music produced by us is supposed primarily sound and inspire.  Everyone is able to hear that and it’s the fact characterizing us," said Markus Wächter, spokesperson for Public Relations at the choir Harmonie 1859 Gambach.

Under the conduction of concert tenor Daniel Sans the choir has developed over years to an ensemble of the finest sound and successfully took part in several competitions. Together with choral friends the choir has been organizing a very successful a cappella concert series since 2009. According to the motto "Pop meets choir" the series has become an integral part of the middle Hessian choral scene.

At the Chorfest Watzenborn-Steinberg the choir will compete in the category "Mixed choirs". We are excited about what we will hear in Pohlheim
