World Choir Games 2018

South Africa rules: This second part of the Children’s Choirs category at 10:00 at the Desmond Abernethy Hall (Pretoria Boys High School) features five highly decorated South African choirs – and Detsky Khor MEZ Krasnodar, one likewise famous Russian choir.

You might like to understand the difference between The Open Competition and The Champions Competition performances – and here is a good chance to experience both at the same venue: The ZK Matthews Great Hall (UNISA) will host The Open Competition of the much-loved category “Music of Spirit and Faith” at 10:30 and The Champions Competition of the same category at 15:00.

Join in to one of our rather young categories: Senior Choirs enter the stage at 14:00 at the Musaion. This time the category is dominated by Chinese choirs who have already brought home countless awards in all kinds of categories, e.g. the Golden Bell Chorus Chongqing, a multiple medal winner of three World Choir Games.

Please also note a slight change at St. Alban's Cathedral for today: The competition in the "Vocal Ensembles" category will now start at 13:30 already instead of 14:00.

The main big event this day will be the first Award Ceremony of the World Choir Games from 17:00-19:00 at the Sun Arena for The Open Competition and from 20:00-23:30 for The Champions Competition. The participants of seven categories of The Open and The Champions Competition are excited to get to know their results from their performances and rush the stage for their well-deserved awards. This is a must-see for all choral music lovers as the memorable emotions and the joy will not only overwhelm choirs but the audience as well.
