First national INTERKULTUR choir competition 2020 in Koblenz

New inspiration for the German choir scene: In cooperation with the city of Koblenz, INTERKULTUR organizes a nationwide choir competition for the first time from November 6-8, 2020. The Deutsche Chormeisterschaft 2020 will provide an exciting choir weekend in Rhineland-Palatinate that will delight choirs and audiences alike, featuring a new competition concept over three rounds.

At a kick-off presentation and press conference on 18 September, Lord Mayor David Langner looked forward to the upcoming event: "A city with great cultural potential needs events which are equally powerful. The premiere of the Deutsche Chormeisterschaft is therefore a perfect match for Koblenz, as it combines high-class musical events with joie de vivre, emotional sounds, shared experiences and great feelings of happiness. We are looking forward to November 2020!"  INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch used this opportunity to highlight the innovative concept of the new event: "The German Choir Championships will enrich our choir scene and give new impulses. It is important to us to promote the local choirs and to strengthen the visibility of choral singing in Germany - with the new choral championship we want to advance towards this goal. "

Participating singers can take part in the Deutsche Chormeisterschaft in the categories Mixed Choirs, Male Choirs, Women's Choirs, Children's and Youth Choirs. They have the opportunity to qualify for the finals during three rounds: The first round is a Diploma Competition, which is open to all choirs based in the Federal Republic of Germany. Groups that show outstanding performances here qualify for the Medal Competition, which is also open to German choirs that have qualified for this level from other competitions. In the finals, the two best choirs from each category will meet and sing for the title "Deutscher Chormeister 2020".
