INTERKULTUR is pleased to introduce some choirs, which will attend the biggest choral event worldwide: The World Choir Games in Sochi 2016.

On the occasion of the World Choir Games 2012 in Cincinnati singers of the county Hildburghausen/Thuringia in Germany gathered to start a new project, which goes beyond the national borders: the participation on an international choral competition. Since that time INTERKULTUR is looking forward to welcome the "Sängerkreis Hildburghausen" at the World Choir Games every two years, including their participation in Riga 2014.

"The mixed choir "Sängerkreis Hildburghausen" was founded in 2012 as a project choir for the World Choir Games in Cincinnati. At the beginning app. 30 singers from different choirs of the regional choir association Hildburghausen applied in order to participate. During four months they rehearsed a stage-ready choral repertoire representative for a German mixed choir under the direction of the conductor Yvonne Unger.

Meanwhile the number of singers of this project choir has doubled. Orginally these choristers sing in 22 different male, female and mixed choirs of the choral associations Thuringia and Hesse.

The repertoire of the project choir "Sängerkreis Hildburghausen" not only comprehends German and international folk songs but also works of well-known German composers of the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Romanticism and the present.

The "Sängerkreis Hildburghausen" nowadays performs at different regional and national events."
