The German a cappella group Maybebop questions with its song the traditions of the Christmas season: the story about the birth of Jesus, the social Christmas magic of a Christmas market illuminated with thousands of lights and offering hot spiced wine abundantly, the crowd during Christmas shopping, church attendance as a Christmassy must and of course – regarding the family's festivity – visiting relatives. But does all this have to be that way?

The five singers wish for a new version of the Nativity story and all its traditions  – "free of any  exaggerated kitsch and free of any holy  ballast", which makes it possible to enjoy the Christmas season one’s own way and to allow comforting and Christmassy feelings.
