Releases

The renowned Italian composer and conductor Giovanni Acciai, an expert in the field of Early music has just released a new CD recording with his award-winning ensemble Nova Ars Cantandi. In this new production Acciai and his choir focused on the "Compiete, op. 7" by Giovanni Legrenzi (1626-1690), one of the great masters of the Italian Baroque.

The new recording was highly acclaimed also by international media, for example in the latest edition of CHORZEIT, the most important magazine for choral music in Germany. The reviewer Manuel Stangorra rated the recording with 5 stars each for ensemble sound and interpretation and is really enthusiastic about this special recording:

"In every second, listeners can hear the heart and soul that went into this particular recording. [...] The expressive range of Nova Ars Cantandi is wide, however, especially in 'Cum Ivocarem', with the focus always on beautiful sound. The homogeneity of singing shown here can only be achieved by a formation that has been rehearsing and performing together for a long time. [...] The organ forms the harmonic support discreetly in the background, without ever becoming obtrusive: The praising chant is always at the center, as in 'Alma Redemptoris Mater'. 'Regina Coeli' and 'Salve, Regina' crown an absolutely recommendable first recording."

Giovanni Legrenzi, Compiete, Op. 7, Prayers at the end of the day recorded by Nova Ars Cantandi, Ivana Valotti (Organ) and Giovanni Acciai has been published at Naxos.

Giovanni Acciai has been acting as Artistic Director of the INTERKULTUR events in Italy since 1992. He will also be responsible for the upcoming editions of Voices for Peace from September 26-30, 2021 in Perugia and Vox Lucensis - Concorso Corale Internazionale from April 9-13, 2022 in Lucca, Italy.
