World Rankings for choirs now includes competition results of Grado, Corfu, Calella, Chiang Mai and Monterey

World Rankings

After the colorful festival season in fall 2016 with five fabulous choral competitions in Italy, Greece, Spain, Thailand and the USA, the INTERKULTUR World Rankings have been updated now. All competition results from the events in Grado, Corfu, Calella, Chiang Mai and Monterey are now included in the calculation of the world’s best amateur choirs.

Probably the most successful group were the Academy Singers from Austria: They won the  the International Choir Festival "Isola del Sole" and rised from rank 169 to 43 in the Top 1000 World Rankings. They also earned the 10th place in the category "Sacred Choral Music" and rank 39 in the list of Children's and Youth Choirs. An outstanding result!

The mixed choir Floice from Indonesia can also be happy about getting into place 24 of the Mixed Choirs World Rankings. Conducted by Agustinus Wahyu Permadi, the choir presented an impressive stage program at the 1st Lanna International Choir Competition in Chiang Mai and won the first "Lanna Choir Prize 2016".

We will also remember the students of the Indonesian Diponegoro University Choir. At the Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional they captivated both the international jury and the audience. Therefore rank 6 in the list of the world’s best Folklore choirs can be seen as a wonderful testimony of their achievement. Congratulations!
