INTERKULTUR World Rankings has been updated

World Rankings

Following the most recent update of the INTERKULTUR World Rankings the winners of the Grand Prix of Nations Berlin 2017 occupy the top ranks of the best choirs.

It’s not long ago since 30 choirs from 15 different nations were on the stage of the world-famous Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie. Together with the renowned Berlin Radio Choir they took part in one of the most high-quality competitions, the Grand Prix of Nations, in the beginning of February.

Their successes are also reflected in the INTERKULTUR World Rankings of the best choirs: as the three-time Grand Prix winner the Kamerniy Devichiy Khor by Lysenko and its conductor Julia Puchko-Kolesnik from the Ukraine have earned the new 2nd place of the one thousand best choirs. Its top performance and the result of 1221 points also means that the choir now shares the 1st place in the category "Musica Sacra" with the everlasting number one Stellenbosch University Choir from South Africa and occupies the 2nd place in the category "Children's and Youth Choirs". Congratulations!

The performance of Ēriks Ešenvald's "Only in Sleep" still sounds in our ears, so we are particularly pleased about the successes of the Russian Gnesins Ensemble of Contemporary Music "Altro coro" and its conductor Aleksandr Ryzhinskiy. Through its outstanding performances in the Grand Prix categories "Musica Contemporanea" and "Chamber Choirs/Vocal Ensembles", the group now ranks 4 in the Top 1000!

We also congratulate KYN from Finland to its 6th place, the highest newcomer in the category "Female Choirs". Under the direction of Kaija Viitasalo, the ladies have impressed with arrangements of jazz and folk music and were highly acclaimed by the Berlin audience. Good job!
