Global Extension of “Hello Council”

Experts from China and Korea Get Together to Discuss Choir Training Approach

World Choir Council

"Hello Council" is a series of live talk and online pedagogical workshop organized by INTERKULTUR China under the support of INTERKULTUR and the World Choir Council. The 6th "Hello Council" came on live on June 25 with guest speakers Ms Wang Hailing, associate professor from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Mr Yoon Euijoong, professor from Hansei University, and adjudicator of the World Choir Games. It was the first time that live broadcast is extended to the global arena, and participants were from China, Korea, Thailand and Philippines etc. The topic was "Choir Training and the Right Approach".

In the live talk, Professor Yoon Euijoong introduced the situation of the Korean choral community, of professional choirs and amateur choirs, the reality of choral education in Korea and the future of Korean chorus. Wang Hailing shared her experience in training the Female Chorus at Shanghai Conservatory of Music and introduced keys to keep singers in a choir: effective training methods, attractive reportoire, concerts and harmonious atmosphere.

It is worth mentioning that there is a wonderful connection between the two guest speakers. The Shanghai Conservatory of Music Girls Choir, conducted by Ms Wang Hailing, once won the Champion title in the "Female Choirs" category of the 7th World Choir Games, while Professor Yoon Euijoong just served as a juror at the same time. As the world's largest international choir competition, the World Choir Games have set up the stage of communication for chorus lovers from all over the world. We meet each other because of the passion for chorus music, and we know each other beacuse of the spirit of "Participation is the highest honor".

Let us look forward to and meet together in the 11th World Choir Games in Flanders/Belgium, 2021 and in the 12th World Choir Games in Gangneung/Republic of Korea 2022.
