You are cordially invited to join us in Koblenz in November! The German Choir Championships offer the German choir scene once again the opportunity to meet, to mingle and to enjoy the joint choral experience.

Günter Titsch, President INTERKULTUR | David Langner, Lord Mayor  City of Koblenz

Information on the current situation

Due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, choir rehearsals, concerts and performances were only possible in digital spaces during the last weeks and months. Since the beginning of June, contact restrictions have been lifted throughout Germany and in some federal states choirs are already allowed to sing together again under appropriate hygiene conditions.

The city of Koblenz, INTERKULTUR and the artistic directors are confident that the 1st German Choir Championships will take place in Koblenz in November. Considering the current situation, a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept is currently being drawn up to guarantee the health and well-being of all participants.

The artistic committee has also decided on further additions to the previous call for entries, which should give all interested choirs a wide range of opportunities to on the one hand to compete with other choirs, but on the other hand give them all the possibilities of artistic, moral and pedagogical support. If desired by the choirs, the competition itself can take a back seat to the communal and advisory character.

The principle of the revised announcement is: MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY and consideration for the adapted rehearsal situations of the choirs.

Important Updates (as of July 23, 2020)
  • All choirs will receive free feedback from the jury directly after their competition performance.
  • Choirs can decide until 2 weeks before the event whether they want to be evaluated or not.
  • Each choir will have only one competition performance (excluding the Final). Choirs can decide whether they will perform their Diploma or Medal program. Only choirs which receive more than 85 points in the Medal competition will have the possibility to qualify for the Final.
  • We would like to accommodate choirs, which are not yet able to plan at the moment, and extend the registration period until September 5, 2020.
  • At the same time, in consideration of the current situation, we offer a free change and cancellation possibility up to 60 days before the event starts (September 5, 2020) in order to provide choirs with the highest possible planning security.
  • An earlier application will still be rewarded: With immediate effect we will refund the participation fee for all choir conductors who register by 29 June.
  • Due to the currently valid distance changes, the conditions of participation have been adjusted. Now choirs and ensembles can also participate with a minimum of 12 singers.
