SINGERS IN RESIDENCE - Sing Along Concert Vienna

November 15 - 18, 2019 Vienna, Austria

A project of the World Festival Singers at the Konzerthaus Wien

INTERKULTUR returns to Vienna with an exciting Sing-Along Concert. As already in 2016, the concert will be held once again at the Konzerthaus Wien, but this time with Mozart's 'Requiem on the music folder. The project is a premiere cooperation with the Wiener Singakademie, which celebrates its 160th anniversary this year. Also, for the first time there will be a cooperation with the artistic director of the Wiener Singakademie, Heinz Ferlesch and his authentic performance orchestra BARUCCO.

The concert is part of the event series “World Festival Singers” following its major choral projects in Europe's metropolises: Mozart's "Requiem" 2014 in Budapest, Schubert's "Messe Nr. 6" 2016 in Vienna, Haydn's "Creation" 2017 in Riga, 2018 Handel's "Messiah" in Paris and the upcoming Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" in Barcelona 2019. The rehearsals and the performance with the Wiener Singakademie, Barucco and 450 singers from all over the world are scheduled at the prestigious Mozartsaal.

"I joined for the first time, 2 friends of mine got me hooked on it! I want to thank you! It was so wonderful, I didn’t dare hope that the conductor would guide 1000 singers so well! This resulted from the preparation of each individual singer, the motivation, concentration and also the charisma of Simon Halsey! A wonderful singing experience!"

Ulrike Kiesselbach, Germany (Sing Along Vienna 2016)

"I want to thank you for the opportunity to participate in the Sing Along Concert Vienna with the Berlin Radio Choir. I have just had the most beautiful choral experience of my life! It has been my dream to sing with a proper orchestra, and Interkultur made that dream come true!"

Okechukwu Bede Okoro, Nigeria (Sing Along Vienna 2016)

"A big thanks to you and the whole Interkultur team for organising the Sing Along Concert in Vienna! Everything worked out well and minor problems were solved in a very professional way! It was really fantastic how everything worked, especially the logistics on Sunday evening!"

Astrid Kleinau-Kleffe, Germany (Sing Along Vienna 2016)

DESTINATION

Vienna is not only the capital of Austria but is also considered Europe’s capital of music. Important composers of the Viennese classical music such as Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven felt comfortable in the magnificent and historic buildings located in the streets of Vienna. More reasons to visit the multifaceted city are the many museums and public squares rich in history. Castle Schönbrunn, summer residence of Empress Sissy, the Stephan dome, the Viennese Prater or the zoo Schönbrunn belong to the most important sights of the city. And lovers of regional and culinary specialties will also find lots of things to indulge in when savouring a piece of Sacher cake and a genuine Viennese Schnitzel. Apart from the cosy flair of a major city a hiking trip to the Austrian Alps is also highly recommended.
