The INTERKULTUR World Rankings have been updated following the World Choir Games 2024, now reflecting the results of all INTERKULTUR events held in the first half of 2024.

And for the first time since 2012, there is a new No. 1 in the global choral community—Delaware Choral Scholars from the United States. Congratulations!

The Delaware Choral Scholars have made an extraordinary debut on the global stage by participating for the first time in the World Choir Games in 2024. They became a three-times Champions in these categories: “Mixed Choirs,” “Contemporary Music – Mixed Voices,” and “Spiritual.”

Their outstanding performances made them earning an impressive1,271 points for the World Rankings in total and thus have positioned them as the new no.1 with the latest update.

The previous leader of the INTERKULTUR World Rankings, Stellenbosch University Choir from South Africa, had ranked first since 2012 with a total of 1,260 points. However, in accordance with World Rankings rules, their score has been removed with this update, as their last participation was over five years ago.

In addition to their top global ranking, the Delaware Choral Scholars have also taken the lead in the individual TOP 50 lists for both the “Mixed Choirs” category and the “Pop, Jazz, Gospel, and Barbershop Choirs.”

Other notable entries in the latest rankings update include the Festival Statemen Chorus (Australia), which has secured the seventh spot as the second highest new entry, and the Little Skylark Children’s Choir (China), which has debuted at rank 25. Meanwhile, the Guangzhou Little Petrel Children’s Choir from China has risen to the No. 1 position in both the “Folklore” and “Children’s and Youth Choirs” individual Top 50 lists.
