A year full of choral music is coming to a close
INTERKULTUR joyfully anticipates the New Year 2016
An exciting and vocal year 2015 has passed. 342 choirs from more than 100 nations have sung together on stages worldwide and presented the diversity of choral music in 11 unique destinations.
Apart from well-established events such as the Johannes Brahms Choir Competition & Festival in Wernigerode (Germany) and Canta al mar in Calella (Spain), INTERKULTUR started also new events this year including the 1st International Choir Festival Puccini in Italy as well as the 1st Kalamata International Choir Competition & Festival in Greece.
The most international and biggest event this year took place from July 05-12, 2015. On the occasion of the 2nd European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations 100 choirs from 35 nations and app. 3.700 participants made the host city of Magdeburg resound. The provincial capital of Saxony-Anhalt welcomed the international choirs with summerly temperatures and cosmopolitanism. Best conditions for an intercultural get-together!
With a lot of music into the New Year!
INTERKULTUR invites the world of choral music to meet at competitions throughout the whole world and to celebrate the festival of choral music together again next year.
2016 will feature many innovations and highlights. Apart from unique competitions in Vienna, Provo, Monterey, Calella and Grado the biggest international choir festival will take place in Sochi, Russia. On the occasion of the World Choir Games 2016 thousands of singers will enchant the former Olympic city with their voices.
For the first time INTERKULTUR will also be represented in Thailand, the land of smiles. Furthermore INTERKULTUR offers from now on opportunities also for individual singers to participate in projects such as the World Festival Singers: be it a Sing Along concert in Vienna, a tour through Russia during the World Choir Games or a workshop weekend in Leipzig.
Our non-competitive event-series ON STAGE belongs to the innovations too. Choirs from all over the world are warmly invited to connect the passion for music and the wanderlust in impressive destinations such as Stockholm, Paris or Barcelona.
This was 2015!
You, the choirs of all parts of the world, are the reason why INTERKULTUR is set every year to unite the global world of choral music in peaceful competitions and festivals. Many thanks to all participants who made 2015 resound with all the diversity that choral music offers. INTERKULTUR wishes all of yous a peaceful Advent season together with family and friends and is looking forward to see you again next year at one of our events.
